Gov: Rostelecom looks for ways to deliver cable from China
VLADIVOSTOK, Mar 28 (PRIME) -- State-controlled telecom and digital company Rostelecom is delivering an underwater cable from China for a fiber optic line Russia’s Far East, Governor of the Autonomous District of Chukotka Roman Kopin said on Monday.
“The underwater cable for the fiber optic line Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky-Anadyr is produced and is in China. Sanctions complicated its delivery to Russia. Rostelecom is working on a solution,” Kopin said on Telegram.
The onland part of the work goes on as planned, he said, adding that the Chukotka government is in contact with the Digital Development Ministry and Rostelecom.
A cable-laying ship originates from South Korea that banned it from sailing to Russia, and Rostelecom is searching for a replacement.
